Stephen Floyd "Steve" Walker

Mr. Stephen Floyd “Steve” Walker, 73, of Jackson, husband of Lisa Charisse Hill Walker, died Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Eternal Hope Hospice. Born in Atlanta, January 3, 1953, he was a son of the late Ervin George Walker, Sr. and Sarah Belva Shaw Poole. Steve formerly served as Assistant Manager at A&P and Treasure Island Grocery Stores. He also formerly owned and operated Walker Wood Flooring and was retired from Fantastic Finish where he was a floor installer. He loved drag racing and was a phenomenal baseball player. He played travel ball as a young man and was later in the Hank Aaron AAA League, where he served as pitcher. He also participated in several bowling leagues and was a top bowler. He was voted “Best Sportsman”. He was a devoted family man and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, passing on his athleticism and memories that will last a lifetime. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by stepmother, Evelyn Inez King Walker; brother, David Walker; grandparents, Fussy Wallace Shaw and Ruby Pearl Shaw; and his cousin and best friend, Wendell Shaw. Surviving in addition to his wife of forty-seven years, are two sons, Stephen James “Jamie” Walker and wife Kashmir of Atlanta, Michael Shane Walker and wife Samantha of Zebulon and Stephanie Charisse Champaign and husband David of Jackson; grandchildren, Pearl Walker, Caston Walker, McKenna Walker, Addison Walker, Easton Walker, Blakely Moody and Ryan Moody and wife Savanna; great-granddaughter, Amelia Faith Moody; brothers, Ervin George “Red” Walker, Jr. and wife Babs of Meansville, Kenneth James “Kenny” Walker and wife Becky of Griffin and Jack Moss of Alabama; sisters, Phyllis Hunter of Griffin and Janet Brawley and husband Dale of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Stephen Floyd “Steve” Walker will be conducted Friday, June 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Burial will be in Westwood Gardens.
