Griffin, Georgia
Robert L. Pelchat, affectionately known as “Bob” by friends and “Dad” by family as well as by close friends who viewed him as a father figure (and there were a lot), finished his concrete job of life on June 26, 2026. Bob was a man of immense strength as well as his undeniable work ethic, having worked in a foundry while living in Maine and continuing his hard work as a concrete finisher in Georgia. After his retirement, Bob continued to offer his time and skill as a volunteer at various Kingdom Hall projects throughout Georgia. Bob was a man of faith and as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he loved reading God’s word and sharing its message of hope and comfort with others. Bob took immense pride in his work. He knew that great foundations came from well poured concrete. He was known by many in the community as the hard-working concrete man with the northern accent. Beyond the job site, Bob was a devoted family man. In his younger years, he spent his free time playing baseball for a farm club in Maine. He also loved roller skating where he met the love of his life, Arlene. In Georgia he loved spending his free time hunting, fishing and watching Atlanta Braves baseball and western movies. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Simone Pelchat Adams and father, George Pelchat; wife of 61 years, Arlene; sisters Muriel, Rachel, Joanne and Patricia and brother Arthur. He is survived by his brother Raymond. He leaves behind a legacy that is quite literally set in stone, survived by his children, Perry and his children Anthony Pelchat and Shandi Faulk (Will); Danny and his wife Susan and their children, Dayna Park (Everett) and Laurabeth Richter (Noah); Dale and his wife Lisa and their children, Mallory Smith (Brandon) and Matthew Hicks (Melissa); and Jessica Simmons (Joseph) and their son Triston. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Noah Park, Logan Smith and baby Smith. He smoothed the rough edges of life, laid a strong foundation for those he loved, and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bob is looking forward to the realization of the hope that he shared with others and to seeing his loved ones again! Memorial services for Robert L. “Bob” Pelchat will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home.
