Robert (Bob) Carl James Sr. a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather died in his home in Griffin, Georgia surrounded by family. He was 85 years old. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Charles Andrew and Etta Evadell James, and his siblings Charles (Chuck) James, Rosemarie Frederick, and Richard Earl James. Born September 23, 1937 in Canton, Ohio to Charles Andrew James and Etta Evadell Hoon. He was educated in Canton Ohio before joining the US Navy in 1955 as an Airman and served aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard. He was a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church in Hollywood, Florida where he and his family lived for 20 years. His successful aviation career spanned 50 years as an airplane mechanic, sheet metal mechanic and airplane inspector for Eastern Airlines, Lockheed Martin and Timco where he was given the nickname Jessie James. He will be remembered for his amazing sense of humor, his childhood stories, unfailing work ethic, his involvement in coaching his children’s sports teams, his generous smile, and his willingness to help anyone in need. In retirement he dearly loved The James Family Farm in Griffin, Georgia and you would often find him with his wife Donna and son Bobby at the local Farmer’s Markets selling fresh fruits, vegetables, canned and baked goods. He was happiest playing cards and spending time with his family or watching and discussing his favorite sport baseball. In his later years, when Parkinson’s Disease robbed him of his strength and stamina, it also gave him a softness that we treasured. During this time he taught us patience and allowed us to show him a small measure of service he showed all of us. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his adoring and eternal wife of 64 years and longtime caregiver Donna Mae James, his children and families Robert (Bobby) James and partner Donna Shipman also daily caregivers, Dennis also a daily caregiver and Denel (wife) James, and Anna James, his Grandchildren Michael and Heather (wife) James, Bryan and Alexis (wife) James, Lauren James, and Jacob Binz, his Great Grandchildren Penny James, Samantha James and Matthew James. The family wishes to thank Brightmoor Hospice for their thoughtful service and tender care.
