Michael Wayne Martin

Michael Wayne “Mike” Martin, 69, and his brother, Jeffrey Eugene “Jeff” Martin, 62, of Griffin, died Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at their home. Mike was born, May 5, 1953, and Jeff was born April 1, 1960, both in Griffin, they were sons of the late Zeddie Lawson and Jewell Chalkley Martin. Both were butchers and Jeff formerly worked with their sister, Shirley and her husband, Charles at Maddox Grocery. They both later retired from Food Depot after many years of service. Mike was a member of the former Hammond Drive Baptist Church and Jeff was a member of Devotee Baptist Church. In addition to their parents, they were preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Jeanette Martin Maddox and a nephew, Gregory Lawson Martin. Mike is survived by a son, Jeremy Martin and a granddaughter, Autumn Barton of Griffin. Mike and Jeff are both survived by a brother, Howard Martin of Griffin; nieces, Cynthia Maddox Butler and husband Roland of Davenport, Iowa and Karen Sprayberry and husband Glenn of Griffin; nephews, Tim Martin and wife Amy of McDonough and Lee Martin and wife Stephanie of Tujunga, CA; great-nieces and nephews, Sloan Martin of McDonough, Chris Sprayberry and wife Brandy of Griffin, Joshua Sprayberry and wife Lauren of Lake Oconee, Thomas Maddox Butler of Nashville, TN and Grace McKinley Butler and fiancé Joseph of Watertown, TN; great-great-nieces and nephews, Haley Benedict and husband Chad, Emma Sprayberry, Camryn Sprayberry, McKenna Sprayberry and Rowan Maddox Cook; Memorial services for Jeff Martin and Mike Martin will be conducted Friday, December 23, 2022, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend John Nance officiating. Burial will follow in Westwood Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday immediately following the service at the funeral home.
