Mattie Quick Crowley

Mrs. Mattie Quick Crowley of Griffin, Georgia passed away January 4, 2018. She was one of six children, born May 8, 1920 to Jessie Lee and Luddie Mae Bunn Quick. At age of 97, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family, Harvey, Lloyd Grady, James and Vinson Quick. She married Fred Crowley October 2, 1937 at the Spalding County Courthouse. They were married 66 years prior to his death in 2003. Together they raised four children. She also joins their oldest son, Billy Edward Crowley and son-son-law, Donald Breland. She is survived by sons, James R. Crowley (Sandy), Richard L. Crowley (Sylvia), daughter, Doris C. Breland, and daughter-in-law, Mary D. Crowley. Grandchildren: Keith Crowley (Raquel), Lynette Crowley, Brant Breland (Amanda), Carri Griffin (Brian) and Leslie Brooks (Roy). Great-grandchildren: Andrew Hunter, Macy Griffin, Owen Griffin, Tricia Crowley, Nataly O’Conners (Shain), Paula Mora-Garcia and Daniela Mora-Garcia and sisters-in-law, Geneva Quick and Shirley Crowley. She was foster mother to many children. Mattie Crowley (and Fred Crowley) instilled work ethics in their children through example. She did whatever was needed to provide for her family. She kept her children busy and out of trouble. Mattie had fond memories of her work at Dundee Mill #2 and #5, Jaco and the Bleachery. She loved children, gardening, fishing, and cooking Sunday lunch. She made Christmas special with her Coconut Cakes and leaves warm memories and warm quilts for her family to cherish. She was the oldest member of East Griffin Baptist Church becoming a Christian as a young adult. Memorials may be made to East Griffin Baptist Church, 999 High Falls Road, Griffin, GA 30223. The family expresses gratitude for those who touched her life, especially Eternal Hope Healthcare. Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Quick Crowley will be held Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Haisten McCullough Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
