Geneva Josephine "Josie" Cavender Shavers Obituary (1943

Geneva Josephine “Josie” Cavender Shavers, 78, of Griffin, wife of Jimmy Lawrence Shavers died July 31, 2021. Born in Greenville, GA March 2, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Walt and Geneva Josephine Cavender. Mrs. Shavers was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved her whole family dearly. She had been a member of Church On Fire and had been very involved in church until her health declined. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shavers was preceded in death by sisters, Paulette Wilkes, Carolyn Cavender and Bretha Lee Cavender. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Larry Shavers and wife Sharmaine and Phillip Shavers, all of Meansville; a daughter, Susie Shavers of Atlanta; two granddaughters, Brooke and Ivy Grace Shavers; two grandsons, James and Connor Shavers, all of Meansville; brothers, Jake Cavender and wife Paula of Jackson and Ricky Cavender of Griffin; sisters Rachael Thompson, France Martin and husband Jerry and Ann Burnett, all of Griffin, Patsy Gatlin of Thomaston and Vicki Dubose and husband Tommy of Meansville; special friends, Marsha Graves, Dianne Duffey, Debbie Walton and Darlene Johnson; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Private graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at Westwood Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 5-7 PM at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home.
