Elford Keith Scruggs

Keith Scruggs died on January 9 in Griffin, Georgia. Keith was born on March 19,1941 in Charlotte, North Carolina to Ernest and Mattie Scruggs. He had two brothers, Donnie and Mike, and two sisters, Sandra and Kay, all deceased. He married Carol Higgins, also of Charlotte in 1959. They had just celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Mr. Scruggs is survived by Carol and their four children Brad Scruggs, Kelly Downing, Vicki Scruggs, and David Scruggs. Also numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who adored their “Papa”. Papa was educated as a Civil Engineer at Valdosta State and Georgia Tech, where he received his M.S. he spent his early career in real estate and later as an engineer for Oglethorpe Power Corporation. He was an avid supporter of gun rights and had a very firm belief in Jesus. He was a member and officer of the Griffin Gun Club for many years. Papa was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Griffin. The viewing will be Thursday, January 13th from 6-8 pm at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home, and the funeral at St. George’s Episcopal Church on Friday the 14th at 11 am, both in Griffin.
