Dennis Eugene Knight Sr.

Mr. Dennis Eugene Knight Sr, 79, of Griffin, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Mr. Knight was born in Meridian, MS on June 20, 1944. He joined the US Navy after turning 18 and served 22 years before retiring in 1984. His next career was spent with the Henry County Sheriff's Office where he retired as a Lieutenant in 2011 after 24 years. He couldn't stay "retired" and went back to serve as a bailiff also in Henry County. He enjoyed photography, tinkering with computers, and riding his Harley Davidson trike whenever he could. Mr. Knight is preceded in death by his parents, Lynus Eugene Knight and Bernice "Snookie" Richards; sister, Deedrie "Dee Dee" Davis; and former wife, Sandra Roesch. He is survived by his son, Dennis E. Knight Jr. (Anna), of Sugar Hill; daughter, Melissa D. Wallin (Zach) and two grandchildren, Leah and Emily, of Newnan; sister, Sheila Diane Jackson (Ronald), of Griffin; brother, George R. Knight (Pam), of Forsyth; former wife, Nancy D. Knight, of Sugar Hill; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service for Mr. Dennis E. Knight Sr will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home.
