Charles Leon Mooney

Mr. Charles Leon Mooney, age 77, of Griffin, passed on Monday, November 2, 2020 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Mooney was born in Ellijay, Ga. on July 28, 1943. He was the son of the late Alfred and Zona Mooney. He retired after 37 plus years with the Ford Motor Company. Mr. Mooney was a veteran of the United States Army where he received 3 Purple Hearts and the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Berean Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by 6 siblings. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Patricia Ann Mooney; children and their spouses, Larry and Christa Mooney, Ronnie and Linda Harper, Laura Gallman, Lee and Brandy Mooney; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Cecil and Joyce Mooney and Harold Mooney; sister, Ernestine Mooney; nieces and nephew and other family also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Charles Leon Mooney will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Rev. Eddie Jones will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Westwood Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from noon until the service hour at the funeral home.
