Alvin Oliver Stephens

Alvin Oliver Stephens, 69, of Williamson, husband of Donna Grace Borders Stephens, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, April 30, 2026, at his daughter’s home. Born in Griffin, June 27, 1956, he was a son of the late William Elton Stephens and Margaret Elene Kelley Stephens. Alvin worked with his former mother-in-law, Martha Buchanan, for thirty-six years at Bucks BBQ and owned and operated Alvin’s BBQ, nicknamed “The BBQ Church” for fifteen years. Alvin was strong in his faith and had been a gospel music singer for forty-three years where he also played drums, guitar and bass guitar. He loved playing for churches, nursing homes, senior centers, gospel sings, and anywhere he could share the love of Jesus. Mr. Stephens was a member of Faith Fellowship Church. In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by his twin brother who was ten minutes older, Calvin Arthur Stephens, Lamar Stephens and Ronnie Hammock. Surviving in addition to his wife of seven years are his children, Joshua Stephens and wife Melanie, Stephanie Corley and husband Ryan and Noah Stephens and wife Faith, all of Griffin; step-children, Jonathan Merchant and Marcus White, both of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Tucker Stephens, Elijah Stephens, bonus grands, Jessica, Shelby, and Delilah; sisters, Brenda Jansen and husband Keith of Grand Island, NE and Rhonda Stephens of Griffin; and father-in-law, Ernest Borders of Griffin. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and extended church family members also survive. Funeral services for Alvin Oliver Stephens will be conducted Monday, May 4, 2026, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Kromer and Reverend Tracey Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in Westwood Gardens. Pallbearers and honorary escort will be Kevin Hobbs, Sam Fowler, Yancey Smith, Nick Ring, Johnny Parsons and Dwight Priest, Jonathan Merchant, Marcus White, Steve Fletcher, Huey Bradley and members of the Faith Fellowship Church.
