Richard Ray “Ricky” Eubanks, Sr., 70, of Griffin, husband of Deborah McGuffey Eubanks, died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Brightmoor Hospice. Born in Griffin, April 14, 1949, he was a son of the late Richard Roger Eubanks and Mary Willie Ray Eubanks. He was retired from Sears Holding Company, formerly K-Mart Corporation. Ricky loved flowers and enjoyed his garden until Alzheimer’s Disease began to affect him. Although he forgot how to work in the yard, he still loved being outdoors. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Ricky was a member of West Sunnyside Community Church where he formerly served on the Board of Deacons, taught Sunday School and was Director of Ushers for many years. In addition to his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lamar and Frances Goss McGuffey; brother-in-law, James “Jr” Phillips; and a niece, Jessica Johnson. Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-two years are children, Richard “Ritchie” Eubanks, Jr. and wife Claudia, Dustie Eubanks Jarquin and Drew Eubanks; grandchildren, Crystalyn Morales and husband Tony, Maria Eubanks, Cody Alvarez and wife Payton, Catelyn Murphy and husband Michael, Camden Jarquin, Dylan Eubanks and wife Kayla, Nikki Eubanks and Summer Eubanks; great-grandchildren, Landon Morales, Noah Morales, Paisley Morales, Finn Alvarez, Kinley Eubanks, Levi Eubanks and Colton Eubanks, all of Griffin; sisters, Marie Bond and husband Calvin of Griffin and Barbara Phillips of Greenville, NC; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, J.W. and Bonnie McGuffey of Social Circle; special cousin, Debbie Chapman of Griffin; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Richard Ray “Ricky” Eubanks, Sr. will be conducted Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM at West Sunnyside Community Church with Dr. Hugh Smith, Sr. and Reverend Jonathan Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in Westwood Gardens. The body is at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home and will be placed in the church Saturday at 10:00 AM. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. The family would especially like to thank their daughter, Dustie for all of her endless days and nights helping take care of her daddy. She made his last days much more bearable. A special thank you to their sons, Ritchie and Drew, and granddaughter Catelyn for the days they “babysat” P-Paw. A special thank you to Ricky’s cousin, Debbie Chapman for all the days she helped take care of him and made him laugh. A special thank you to their grandsons, Dylan and Cody for all the times they helped with P-Paw.
