George "Lance" Lindgren Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

George “Lance” Lindgren, 75, of Griffin, Georgia, passed peacefully from this life into the next on March 3, 2021, at WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital. Born August 10, 1945, in Mobile, Alabama, he was a son of the late George Corey Lindgren of Pomfret, Connecticut, and Anna Louise Miller Lindgren of Georgetown, Alabama. Lance grew up in North Reading, Massachusetts. He graduated North Reading High School, where he was a gifted track athlete. He attended University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and in 1966, he moved to College Park, Georgia, where he began his 35-year career with Delta Air Lines. After marrying Glenda Maloy Lindgren in 1976, he and his family relocated to Griffin, Georgia, in 1979. He retired from Delta as a Senior Customer Service Agent in 2001 and enjoyed retirement years in Griffin. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and “granddaddy.” In his spare time, he enjoyed a couple of stints as an extra in the TV series “Rectify” during filming in Griffin, Georgia. Lance was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, positive attitude, and was considered a “people person” by Delta colleagues and everyone who met him. Lance “never met a stranger.” Surviving in addition to his wife of 44 years are a son, Jerry Robin “Robbie” Blanton (Donna) of Norcross, Georgia; a daughter, Tamara Renee Davis of Alpharetta, Georgia; grandchildren, Hannah Gail Blanton and Sylvie Jean Blanton of Norcross, Georgia; Charles Wesley Davis, Sophie Nicole Davis, and Abby Caroline Davis, of Alpharetta, Georgia; four brothers, Craig M. Lindgren of Georgetown, Alabama, Don C. Lindgren of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Stephen S. Lindgren of Georgetown, Alabama, and Gary C. Lindgren of West Haven, Connecticut; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A private graveside funeral service for George “Lance” Lindgren will be conducted Monday, March 8, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home.
