Edith Harvey Parks Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Edith Harvey Parks, passed away April 20th, after a brief illness at Eternal Hope Hospice in Griffin. Edith was born in Atlanta in 1930 and graduated from Southwest Dekalb HS in 1948. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and EC Harvey, husband of 70 years, Virgil B. Parks, brother Chris Harvey, his wife Vivian, Virgil’s three sisters and husbands. She is survived by her three children, Virgil Glenn Parks (wife Anne), Terry L. Parks, Jenny Flowers (husband Mark), 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, and Linda Johnson, her care-giver of many years. Edith is the last of her generation on both sides of the family, leaving a long legacy of love for all. She was a member of First Baptist Church Griffin and of the Magna Sunday School class. Edith devoted her life to caring for her husband, raising her children and providing a safe and loving home for all. She will be remembered by many for the cards and letters she sent, as if it was her calling to let others know how much they meant to her. We had the privilege of celebrating Edith’s 90th birthday in September 2020 enjoying a day with family, surrounded by those who loved her and whom she loved. The highlight of the day was a surprise parade lead by police escort with participants consisting of family, friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church Griffin with Reverend Steven Norris officiating.
