Donnie Eugene Scott, 75, of Forsyth, formerly of Griffin, husband of Mary Magdalene Long Scott died Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Navicent Health in Macon. Born in Ellijay, July 29, 1944, he was a son of the late Truitt Henderson and Mary Oneda Wright Scott. He was a US Army Veteran and was retired from Ford Motor Company after thirty-one years of service. He was nicknamed “Dr. Red Hot” by co-workers for his amazing mechanical abilities. Upon retirement Mr. Scott worked part-time with Quality Drive Away in Griffin and Perdue Farms in Forsyth. It was in his nature to always be working on something, but in his spare time, he loved to fish. Mr. Scott was a member of McDonough Baptist Tabernacle. Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-four years are a son, Michael Scott of Forsyth; daughter, Pamela Scott and husband Gerald Rice of Griffin; granddaughter, Krystle Ross; two great-granddaughters, Alexis and Pasley; three sisters, Joan, Vanessa and Lisa; brother, Al; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 1, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Westwood Gardens with Mr. Chris Barfield officiating. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, social distancing and all state and local guidelines must be observed. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until the service hour at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home following all COVID-19 distancing guidelines.
