William Scott Nunnally

William Scott Nunnally, 46, of Jonesboro passed away suddenly at his parents’ home Thursday, May 19, 2022. Born in Austell, June 6, 1975, he was the son of Reverend Willam Duke and Joyce Ann Hayes Nunnally. Scott was a 1993 graduate of Jonesboro High School where he was listed in Who’s Who Among American High School Students all four years. Scott attended Georgia Southern University. He was formerly a longtime employee of Dover Cylinder Head Company and worked for many years with Allied Motor Parts in East Point. He recently began working with Caterpillar, Inc. in Griffin. Scott was formerly an avid fisherman and hunter. While growing up he and his family enjoyed their summers camping and spending time at Lake Hartwell where he learned to ski. He loved Florida Gator Football. Scott’s dad, being a Baptist Pastor, allowed Scott to meet many friends and enjoy life as a young man taking part in many youth church activities that brought him much joy. Those churches he was so proud to be a part of were Austell First Baptist Church, Chattahoochee First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Fairhaven Baptist Church in Demopolis, AL, East Point First Baptist Church and Lovejoy First Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his parents of Jonesboro are a sister, Shanna Nunnally Thomas and husband Clif; niece, Kaitlin Marie Cherry; and nephew, Hayden Duke Cherry, all of Barnesville; fiancé, Wendy Duffey of Jonesboro and her children, Kendall and Kennedy Darien of Rome; aunt, Geneva Hawkins of Stone Mountain; uncle, Ronnie Nunnally and wife Virginia of Hartwell; Lenny Fries of Watkinsville; numerous cousins and friends also survive. Funeral services for William Scott Nunnally will be conducted Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 12:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Davis officiating. Due to the approaching bad weather the burial will be Friday, May 27, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain where Scott will be buried alongside his beloved NaNa and Papaw. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:30 AM until the service hour at the funeral home.
