Joan Wells Cook

Joan Wells Cook, age 83, passed peacefully Tuesday evening, July 22, 2025, at Pike Manor. Joan was born on October 15, 1941, to Theo J. Wells and Mildred Gibson Wells in Griffin, Georgia. Joan graduated from Griffin High School in 1959 and was married in November 1959 to Dennis N. Cook. Joan and Dennis had two children, Dennis Keith Cook and Christoper Todd Cook and lived in Griffin for their entire lives. Joan had many hobbies, such as reading, painting, shopping, playing cards, cooking, and gardening, and had a great love of plants and flowers. She was a devoted wife, mother, and daughter, taking care of her aging parents until their deaths in 2011 and 2013. Joan loved for the family to be together, and was happiest when her parents, children, and grandchildren were sitting at her dining room or kitchen table. Joan especially loved the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays when the whole family could be together. Joan was a member of County Line United Methodist Church for most of her adult life and made many lifelong friends there over the past 50 years. She was a devoted Christian and is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her two children and daughters-in-law, Keith Cook and wife Karen, Chris Cook and wife Cara; grandchildren, Lauren Cook Nichols, Daniel Cook, Justin Cook, and Tori Cook; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. The family is sincerely grateful for the loving, compassionate, professional care that Joan received from the staff at Pike Manor Assisted Living over the past 12 months; they made us a part of their family too. Memorial services for Joan Wells Cook will be conducted Friday, August 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Entombment was private and Joan was placed with her husband Dennis at Westwood Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home.
