It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Betty Pike Whaley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister-in-law, who departed this life on June 28, 2024 at the age of 78. She was a beacon of love and warmth, dedicating her life to the family she cherished more than anything else in the world. Betty was born on June 17, 1946 in Roanoke, Alabama. From a young age, she exhibited a selfless spirit and an unwavering commitment to those around her. This dedication continued throughout her life, as she became the heart and soul of her family. A devoted wife to Tommy Whaley, Sr., Betty created a loving home filled with joy and comfort. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love for almost sixty years. Together, they raised two children, who were the light of her life. As a mother, she was nurturing, patient, and endlessly supportive, always putting her family's needs before her own. Betty was also a cherished grandmother, known affectionately as Grandmama and Great Grandmama. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she delighted in every moment spent with them. From baking cookies to sharing stories to sewing, she created countless memories that will be treasured forever. Her home was always open, and she loved hosting family gatherings, where her culinary skills truly shone. The kitchen was her kingdom, and it was there that she expressed her love through the delicious meals she prepared. Her recipes and the warmth of her hospitality will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to sit at her table. Betty was a pillar of strength and a source of boundless love for her family. She faced life's challenges with grace and resilience, always with a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. Her legacy is one of unconditional love, selflessness, and an unshakeable commitment to family. Throughout her 78 years, Betty was a devoted lover of Jesus, whose faith guided her every step. Her unwavering belief in God's love and grace was a source of inspiration and comfort to all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Tommy Whaley, Sr., her children Angela Page (Ken), Tommy Whaley, Jr. (Gina), her grandchildren Kendall Criswell (Austin), Kelly Lawrence (Richard), Rudy Whaley, Katherine Whaley, her great grandchildren Emma, Ella, and Eliza Criswell, and her sister-in-law, Janice Kingren. She was preceded in death by her loving mother Willie Clyde Pike and her brother Tommy F. Pike. Betty's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her life was a testament to the power of love and family, and her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. A celebration of Betty's life will be held on June 30 at 3:00 at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home, 1155 Everee Inn Road, Griffin, Ga 30224. Burial will follow in Westwood Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home.
